Are you
A) starting GP via the green button on the hompage? (= using Java Web
Start) or
B) did you download the ZIP and use startGP.bat ?

Please try to install Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) API and JAV ImageI/O.

I am sorry, but installing them is a bit tricky.
