[Openvas-devel] OpenVAS versioning scheme?

Hi,

thinking about the next major releases,
I got the impression that it does not make
so much sense to bind the OpenVAS version to
the module openvas-libraries or openvas-scanner.

In fact, the modules undergo developments at a
different pace. Currently, scanner is not much changed
whereas manager and gsa are.

So, how about next release "OpenVAS 4" equal
to the combination of openvas-libraries/openvas-scanner 3.x,
openvas-manager/gsa 2.0, openvas-administrator/gsd/openvas-cli 1.0 ?

OpenVAS 5 would then be a major update in any of the components again,
be it the scanner or something else.

This would also help the PR work.

Thoughts?

Best

	Jan
