[Openvas-discuss] Are there other Nessus forks than OpenVAS?

There were a few that I used to monitor (still on their email lists if they
ever start back up) but none are active anymore (or they deleted my email
address for what ever reason). There were some interesting ports, all by
commercial companies or consulting companies; a port to Java which as you
would expect, isn't fast and port to Windows that runs once, usually
completes the scan and writes the data to a file but crashes when complete.
Was Porz-Wahn the German/Polish fork? I thought that had showed some
promise before petering out?
OVAS is the only remaining active fork I know of.
If anyone is wondering, I'm just on this list out of curiosity. Tenable has
no bones to pick with OVAS, some individuals like yourself, actively
contribute to the Nessus list and that is always appreciated. I've always
watched for the OVAS client work and information my support group may find
useful should a customer ask us about it.
As director of Support, I keep an eye on other clients because invariably
our Direct Feed customers will use them and my group, while not legally
obligated to provide support for them, find it's a good gesture as the
different clients often have different functions that some customers will
want. A good example is the defunct NessusWX project which we currently
support even though the code is not ours. A new client is on the way soon,
I'm hoping it's attractive enough to lure users away from NWX since it has
some less than optimal buglets.
Kind regards,

Hi,
I wonder whether there ever happened other forks of Nessus than OpenVAS. I
only found Porz-Wahn, but this one was dead from the beginning.
If you know of anything, even as dead as Porz-Wahn, please let me know.
All the best
Jan
