All I can say is wow... Talk about progress vs. GSA-Desktop 0.3... The
only thing I have noticed so far is that the progress meter on the scans
seems to be a little wonky... I am running a test at the moment on ~30
servers and the meter is at 1190% complete... I had one complete crash to
desktop which isn't too significant as the scans run server side and when I
restarted GSD everything was still working in the background fine...
Checked the gsd.log and didn't seem to see anything, though it was a little
difficult as it seems it also stores the scan result info on top of the
client/server comms...

Going to hammer on this some more.... The windows people around here are
super excited at the prospect of having a functional windows client
available soon...

Good work to all... The performance increase and responsiveness is
absolutely light years ahead of the last release so if this all continues
at even close to this pace there will be many smiling happy people
shortly...

Keep up the great work...

Cheers,

Matt.

Dear OpenVAS users,

today we published the first release candidate for GSD 1.0.
Thanks to Raimund for the intensive work in the past
weeks to complete the functionality and iron out bugs!

GSD (Greenbone Security Desktop) is a desktop application
and acts as client to OpenVAS Manager using the OMP protocol.
It was recently renamed from "GSA-Desktop" to "GSD".
There is a screenshot of an earlier version at our homepage:
  http://www.openvas.org/screenshots.html

Therefore its functionality is mostly equivalent to GSA.
GSD is not stateless and thus it reacts much faster on
user interactions.

Anyone using the OpenVAS 3.1 full setup:
Please test the GSD and let us know whether there
remain any flaws.

Numerous additional features are already in my mind
and I guess you can add more. So there will be plenty to do
for the releases after 1.0 :-)

GSD is fully supporting english and german language.
Anyone volunteering to prepare further languages, just let us know.

Those who are using OpenVAS trunk: GSD is already
mostly compatible with the upcoming next major release of OpenVAS.

I guess our brave OpenVAS packagers will soon make binary
packages for various platforms available.

A Windows installer will follow soon and I plan to have a MacOSX
one as well.

All the best

		 Jan
