Yes, ifconfig is installed, and it seems to be a driver issue.  If the
Live CD cannot be updated, maybe it is worth noting the date on the
download page or pointing users to Backtrack?

I tried the Backtrack 5 R1 Live DVD.  The networking works well, I can
sync NVTs, and the OpenVAS services do not show obvious errors when
starting (?).  However, it is giving me some of the issues I had on
Fedora 16:

1. I created a user, but the web interface gives me "invalid login."

2. The desktop application freezes before I can type in the hostname
and password.

I haven't yet had much time yet to spend on these, and I need to
download and run the openvas check setup script.
