Ah

I used the wizard to scan a Cisco switch. And it only found one Medium vulnerability :( was thinking the wizard works great for servers / workstations, but thought I would need to do something different for other 'bits' - we have a mix of other hardware incl HP switches

Well, just ask?

OpenVAS by default supports about 43 cisco (mainly ASA) specific check. see under scan config : family: Cisco. and you can add more using openvas nasl language.

Hello, am new to this solution - quite impressed with its ease and management of Server scanning.

Are there any FAQs on using it to scan hardware / appliances? Like Cisco routers, etc...

When checking the forums NESSUS could take an SNMP community. Couldn't see an easy way to do the same with OpenVAS?

Very grateful for the re-direction!

Regards,
Christopher
