Hi together!
I ran into a debian naming/version problem on debian sid systems
particular with our KDEPIM for Maemo Fremantle armel [1] builder.
When I log into the corresponding build system and I do e.g.
$ dpkg --compare-versions \
'strigi-utils_0.7.2.20100813-1maemo1.1163326_i386.deb' \
gt \
'strigi-utils_0.7.2.20100818-1maemo1.1165226_i386.deb'
dpkg: version 'strigi-utils_0.7.2.20100813-1maemo1.1163326_i386.deb' has
bad syntax: invalid character in version number
then I get a version number error. Same works well under
a debian lenny based machine. I had a quick look a the sources
of dpkg and have seen that the version number checking under sid
is stricter than under previous versions. It fails under squeeze, too.
So our package names are no longer valid in terms of newer dpkgs.
We have to address this because we rely on dpkg.
Regards, Sascha
