Hello!
The distribution: gpg4win-2.0.4 (installed with full options set)
The environment: WinXP SP2, Russian locale.
The problem: when trying to generate a new keypair (any type), whether via a front-end (GPA or Cleopatra tested) or via text console, the process fails at the point of entering pass-phrase. Standard error-reporting window pops up saying that the pinentry.exe application has failed. GPA and Cleopatra than say that there was 'General error' and the new key was not created. Gpg2 (in console) say that 'gpg: problem with agent: IPC read error' and 'gpg: key generation interrupted'.
Thus it is impossible to generate a new pair of keys using this distribution!
It is reported that the problem can be worked around, for example, by substituting pinentry.exe file with pinentry-4qt.exe.
For discussion (in Russian) of this (and some other) problems please see: https://www.pgpru.com/forum/rabotasgnupg/problemyszapuskomgpg
Regards,
Anton
