Dieser Ort ist offenbar veraltet. Ich habe inzwischen in der
Dokumentation gefunden: „The default configuration file is named
'dirmngr.conf' and expected in the home directory.“

> z.B. bei Debian. Da solltest Du aber auch schon was per syslog sehen.

Zumindest mit `dmesg` sehe ich keine neuen Einträge während der
Verwendung von `gpg --card-edit`. Dabei ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass
`dirmngr` wohl gar nicht läuft. Ich habe das Programm mal manuell
gestartet, aber nach wie vor schlägt der Versuch fehl, einen
4096-Bit-Schlüssel zu erstellen.

Ich muss zugeben, dass ich den Thread in die falsche Liste gepostet
habe. Die Versuche geschehen primär unter Linux:

    What keysize do you want for the Signature key? (2048) 4096
    The card will now be re-configured to generate a key of 4096 bits
    Note: There is no guarantee that the card supports the requested
          size. If the key generation does not succeed, please check the
          documentation of your card to see what sizes are allowed.
    gpg: error changing size of key 1 to 4096 bits: Invalid data

Unter Windows ist die Fehlermeldung abweichend („Card error“ statt
„Invalid data“):

    What keysize do you want for the Signature key? (2048) 4096
    The card will now be re-configured to generate a key of 4096 bits
    NOTE: There is no guarantee that the card supports the requested
          size. If the key generation does not succeed, please check the
          documentation of your card to see what sizes are allowed.
