I concur.  Only looking at my area of expertise, the Tunderbird support
for encryption and signing is not standard conform whereas Claws has
decent support.

Yes, TB is Free Software but the maintainers are not even willing to
help plugin writers to get decent crypto support into TB.  Enigmail is
really good software but hampered by the stubbornness of the Mozilla
Corporation (or whoever claims to be resonsible for TB).
