Btw. automatic update notifications (not updates) are a feature on our backlog 
for 3.0 so this will come at one point.

Yes the velocity depends a bit on new things that we think users should test. 
For now this was mostly gnupg 2.1, gpgOL and we are currently working on 
Kleopatra features after lots of internal / background work to make it more 
maintainable. Once we've implemented some new features we will make a new 
release.

Also we want to fix some of the things our testers report before we are handing 
out a release with the same bugs again ;-)

I think the users lists are the right place, as we are looking to our users to 
help testing things and we don't update the Beta that often. I expect this at 
most to be 1-2 beta's per month over the summer and then we might have our 
automatic notifications (which we will also want to test before going stable 
with it). So the noise level should be acceptable imo.
