Before we discuss the merit of several simple markup languages,
we should:
a) solve the licensing problem Werner talked about.
@Jochen: Maybe you can do something there?
b) document our goals and when we consider our change a sucess
c) find and evaluate options.
Personally I'd prefer to have b) an c) in the wiki in an overview form.
It is quite hard to follow longer threads to just get an summary of the
arguments.
While we are at finding options:
There is also https://pontoon.mozilla.org/
(thanks to Fc3b2ram na Gc3a0idhlig <fios at foramnagaidhlig.net>
for pointing it out to me)
I had a very brief look and it is very dynamic, on a website allowing
someone to directly make a change on a string that is shown.
This reminds me of the advances of editing systems regarding:
1. Showing directly what a change would look like
2. While seeing the context.
I think that the combination of visual editors and markup languages
really has pushed the issue here. If you look at platforms that allow to
comment or change lines of code directly, also allowing a raw mode
and preview mode of accompaning text file, these seem to solve the problem
better than previous solutions.
Best Regards,
Bernhard
