[Gpg4win-devel] GpgOL and Gpg4win 2.x releases

Hi,

In Gpg4win-2.3.0 we've published GpgOL with MIME reading support. Which may
have been a bit thoughtless of us because we didn't add an Option to disable
S/MIME at the same time so users still have to do this through the registry.

GpgOL also modified S/MIME mails in a way that outlook was unable to handle
that anymore.

In the current development version of GpgOL (which is available in the 3.0
test packages) we've improved that. S/MIME support is now an option (and an
option dialog). GpgOL also tries to keep modifications at a minimum and
restores S/MIME messages in a way that outlook can handle it again.

We think we need to release this change especially sooner then in our
timetable for 3.0.

Personally I think that the current development version is an improvement of
the old "no-mime" plugin. But we still want to iron out some edges (especially
regarding Mail modifications). So we don't want to release that yet as part of
a stable package.

The code for the old interface / behavior of 1.3.0 is still contained in 2.0
and can be switched with a build option.

So my suggestion for GpgOL in a new Stable (2.x) release would be:
- Include gpgol "master" (let's call it 1.4.0 or something like that)
- Use the 1.3.0 UI / Behavior as default
- Add an option to switch into the "full mime mode" and mark it with
(experimental)

Regards,
Andre
